Maxi-Cash opens pawnshop in Orchard Rd

Posted by luxuryasiahome on August 27, 2009

MAXI-CASH yesterday launched its seventh pawnshop – at Lucky Plaza in Orchard Road – since it announced its move to expand into pawnbroking in February this year.

Maxi-Cash, a wholly owned subsidiary of jewellery retailer Aspial Corporation, aims to provide traditional pawnbroking services in a modern way.

‘We asked ourselves: Why must pawnshops look like the traditional ones with high counters and metal grills? Why can’t we have one that is modern, friendly and approachable?’ said Aspial chief executive Koh Wee Seng.

‘So we set out to create a new bank-like experience for our customers in terms of shop design, friendly service and professionalism.’

Mr Koh also reckons Maxi-Cash offers the best valuation for valuables including gold and diamonds through its jewellery industry expertise.

‘Maxi-Cash hopes to offer pawning services to consumers as an alternative choice of quick financing in a modern and transparent manner – one that is not much different from a usual visit to a bank,’ he said.

Maxi-Cash plans to open another pawnbroking outlet, at Marine Parade, next week.
